Minor Illness Clinics

Our practice nurses run minor illness clinic mornings. Suitable conditions include sore throat, colds etc.
The receptionists will ask if you are happy to see a nurse. You can of course request to see a doctor if you prefer.

Phlebotomist Clinics

8.30 - 10.00am on Tuesday

1.30 - 3.00pm on Wednesday

Well Woman and Family Planning Clinics

Routine Appointments - For the doctor of your choice, please book in advance. If booking by telephone please ring between 11.00am and 3.00pm when the telephone lines are quieter.

Advanced access (same-day) Appointments - To see a doctor: please telephone between 8.30 and 10.00am for these morning appointments.

Urgent Evening Appointments - With the duty doctor for urgent problems arising after lunchtime that cannot wait until the next morning: please telephone between 2.00 and 4.00pm. The duty doctor may ring you back to discuss your problem.

Test Results

Please phone between 12.15 - 1.15pm and 6.00 - 6.30pm if your doctor has not asked you to ring them in a telephone surgery.

Routine Home Visits

Please ring Wrafton House before 10.00am. A doctor will usually ring you back to discuss your problem.

Contacting The Secretaries

Please ring between 12 noon and 12.30pm at Wrafton House.

NHS DIRECT 0845 4647 (or at www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk)

Provides nurse advice for health information 24 hours a day throughout the year for giving nurse advice on:

i) any medical problems (symptoms you might have)

ii) general health issues

iii) using the health service

All telephone calls are charged at the local call rate. This service is otherwise free so please do make full use of it.

EMERGENCIES

A doctor is available 24 hours a day for all urgent calls. Injuries from accidents can be treated at the Accident and Emergency Department at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, Welwyn Garden City. In the event of an acute emergency such as a patient collapse it may be better to dial 999 for the ambulance service. The out-of-hours service is provided for emergency medical problems by the Herts Urgent Care organised on-call service. It is for emergencies and urgent problems which cannot wait until the following day to be seen. Please do not abuse this service.

As an alternative for advice on any medical problems you might have, you may contact NHS Direct on 0845 4647 for nurse advice 24 hours a day. See website above.

FACILITIES

Disabled Access

Wrafton House - The building has been designed with particular regard to the needs of the disabled, providing easy access suitable toilet facilities and a lift.
Northdown Road
- please arrange with the receptionist if you need an appointment with the practice nurse and are unable to climb stairs.

Baby Changing

There are facilities for changing nappies in the disabled toilet at Wrafton House.

Pram Parks

Prams may be left in the space allocated in the lobby area at Wrafton House.

Car Parking

Car parking spaces at Wrafton House are limited. Please do not park if there are no spaces available as this may jeopardise the doctors' ability to leave the car parks quickly in case of an emergency call. Please do not use the car parking spaces reserved for doctors and staff. Please drive and park your car carefully. The practice will not accept liability for any accidents that occur in the car parks.

Public Telephone

There is a public telephone in the waiting room at Wrafton House.

Mobile Telephones

Please switch off your mobile telephone when entering the surgery as it can interfere with equipment used in the building.

Hygiene

In the interests of hygiene please do not bring food, drink or animals (except guide dogs) onto the premises.
